UPDATE:

I just saw my doctors here at MD and all tests showed that I remain clear of any cancer! Praise God!

We were a little worried about this checkup, as I have been having some odd abdominal pains.

Whatever it is, there is no cause for concern. It is probably just adhesions, but they are doing some additional tests to determine if it might be something that we can knock out with an antibiotic. In any event, it is very minor!

I am STILL in Houston...

I have been here since LAST Sunday. I miss home!!

I had a class and a test to take here for work and then a pretty big check up at MD Anderson. I had all my tests run yesterday and now am waiting for results. My appointment with the doctor is at 9:30am and I will get all the official results of my tests.

American Idol conspiracy theory...

For the two of you who were missing me:

For the past few months, I have been consumed by studying for tests and starting a new career and have not had much extra time for idle chat. The best I can do for you tonight is Idol chat.

Don't roll your eyes at me, that was funny.

Thanks to the miracle that is DVR, I was glad to be able to watch the final American Idol 1-hour showdown in less than 30 minutes. This works well considering my lack of time for television these days, but was even more of a lifesaver when it came to all of the ridiculous boxing "skits" and analogies that were played out all night.

C'mon, American Idol producers! An overplayed boxing theme?! What were you thinking?!

Anyway, after watching the show it seems as if they should have renamed it "Archuleta Idol," but it is for this reason that I am suggesting a conspiracy theory:

Simon has said that he favors David Cook. However, tonight Mr. Cowell had very little praise for DC. In fact, he declared that "Squinty" Archuleta had outdone David Cook on every song! Why would he do this? Why would every judge make it so obvious that Archuleta was the hands-down winner (especially if they want to maintain the ratings for tomorrow's show)?

My theory is that it is possible that the actions of the judges tonight were possibly meant to stir up David Cook fans into voting for him and make Archuleta fans comfortable and less likely to call in their votes. Now, I'm not sure if this is genius reverse psychology on the part of the judges or just dumb luck. But, even though they spent most of the night singing Archuleta's praises, they might have done Cook a favor.

We'll see.

Who is my pick out of the two? I would certainly say Archuleta, since he absolutely has the most talent and promise of a future. David Cook will also do well, but I think Archuleta deserves it based on skill and ability (but certainly not based on the crazy-dad factor).

It really could be either one of them tomorrow.

Let's just hope there are no more boxing skits.

American Idol - Top 6

Yay for ALW week! I was very excited to hear some new takes on some great Broadway tunes.

However, it wasn't quite the variety I expected. There were two songs from Phantom (and there were almost 3 until Carly changed her song to JCSS).

My top two, based on performance:

Carly Smithson - perfect song for her, but I still fear the bottom-three for her.

David Archuleta - he's got the fanbase and I believe he will ultimately be the winner. His performances are not usually my top picks, but I've gotta give him some props for delivering a good twist on this song and singing something age-appropriate.

Middle two:

David Cook - thought this performance was fabulous, but it didn't quite fit in with David's musical style. I was picturing fans at a rock show being really confused about a straight-up Broadway-style song being sung at a rock show. David will likely end up in the top two, though (tonight and through the end).

Syesha Mercado - Syesha gave a good performance and really shined. I just don't think it was enough to keep her out of the bottom-three.

Bottom two:

Brooke White - false start aside, it was really a pretty good performance for her. She has done this once before and recovered from it, but this was pretty bad this time. Of all of the contestants, Brooke would be the one whose album I would be most likely to buy. We'll see what America has to say...

Jason Castro - meh. I've been rooting for Jason because he has shown some promise and is a Texas Aggie, but I doubt that he is going to be in the top three and this week just might be the end of the road for him.

Most likely, the results will play out totally different from my predictions. After all, I was dead wrong about Carly last week!
