Howdy folks!
I am in the middle of my LAST chemo treatment! Whoop! We got a pretty late start this morning and are running about an hour-and-a-half behind. The reason for this was because I had problems with getting my port accessed AGAIN. This time was a little worse than usual. The nurse who accessed the port could not get a blood return. I have told you about this happening a few other times. Usually there are several "tricks" that will get the port catheter free and I am all set. None of those tricks would work this go-round. By this time I was freaking out a bit and having trouble calming down. It was decided that an anticoagulent would need to be injected into the port and sit for an hour to loosen things up in there. Luckily this worked to get it going right and we were on our way to the chemo center. It is looking like we won't get out of here until about 7:00pm or so tonite. We will head to New Braunfels tomorrow to split the trip up and, since I will still be feeling good from the steroids, we have planned to do a chemo-ending celebration and small birthday lunch for my Grandpa and me on Sunday. It will be lots of fun and so nice to be with family and friends. Any of you who are free on Sunday and near New Braunfels are welcome to come. Let me know and I can get you some directions.
I will update you soon on chemo aftermath and let you know how things go in the next week or so. After recovering from this last chemo round, I will come back to be retested in mid-November and will hopefully be given a clean bill of health. I hope everyone has had a blessed week and I wish you a wonderful weekend.
And, as always, thank you for marching along with me and may God bless you all!
Love & blessings,Heather
